Waterfronts

Beginning with ground-breaking work on waterfronts in the Boston Harbor Islands and the Boston Waterfront, Dodson & Flinker have developed an international practice in waterfront planning and design. Projects range from a masterplan for Houston’s Buffalo Bayou, a flood-prone urban river to a new community along the Trinity River in Fort Worth to a waterfront planning process for urban waterfronts throughout Massachusetts. Managing growth along rural waterfront landscapes such as the Severn River in Maryland and the Rapahannock River in Virginia has allowed the firm to bring its land use planning skills to bear on the protection of sensitive waterfront ecosystems. Regional waterfront preservation has included waterfront landscape inventory and protection plans for the Hudson River, the Long Island Bays and the East Hampton waterfront in New York State.
