GREYLOCK GLEN TRAIL SYSTEM

Dodson & Flinker, with a team of wetlands and trail design professionals, assisted Masschusetts DCR in the development of a coordinated system of over 30 miles of trails, greenways and associated recreation areas in Greylock Glen. Dodson & Flinker used a landscape-oriented approach to the planning and design of the Greylock Glen trail system and recreational facilities. The goal of the plan was to create a system of trails, greenways and recreation areas that blend in with the natural, cultural and visual character of the site while providing the highest quality recreational and educational experience for future users.

Trails developed include hiking, cross-country skiing, mountain biking/running and equestrian. Observation sites, nature study areas, wildlife viewing spots, picnic areas, scenic overlooks and linkages to the Greylock State Reservation, the Town of Adams and the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail are provided. Dodson & Flinker prepared a complete bid package of construction drawings including trail cross-sections and stream crossings.
