BERLIN REGIONAL DESIGN STRATEGIES

Dodson & Flinker developed regional design strategies for the City of Berlin in collaboration with planner Robert D. Yaro of New York. The planning team recommended physical planning and design strategies to help the future German capital city plan for rapid growth projected to occur in areas formerly sealed off from the city by the Berlin wall. Creation of regional greenbelts, preservation of historic urban and rural landscapes, the planning of new, rail-oriented communities and development of future growth models based on the positive aspects of the city’s urban design traditions were incorporated in computerized regional design models developed by the planning team.
