Having completed a groundbreaking new comprehensive plan and zoning regulations, the Town of Amenia was eager to see the effect of these new policies on its hamlet. Dodson & Flinker met extensively with community leaders and citizens, held interactive design workshops and developed detailed plans and perspective drawings illustrating a variety of possible alternative development scenarios for the hamlet. Design guidelines were developed to ensure that the character, scale, infrastructure, walkability and economic health of the hamlet are enhanced. The masterplan also reinforced traditional compact development patterns that create successful new development while preserving open space, environmentally sensitive areas, farms and forest land.
