Construction is underway for a new bath house and lifeguard building on Swansea, MA’s Town Beach, the latest elements of Dodson & Flinker’s recommendations for the area to be implemented. Dodson & Flinker worked with Stephen Kelleher Architects to develop the master plan, which was accepted by the Town in October of 2014. The Town has already implemented several elements of the master plan, including beach nourishment and dune grass plantings and a pocket park on Bay Street. D&F worked with SKA and The Town to prepare construction documents for this latest phase, which broke ground in the fall of 2018. The site design for this building also includes an access road that the Town will use for regular beach nourishment via a “feeder beach” that works with natural longshore currents to distribute sand along the beach.
