The goal of the project was the development of a broad-based consensus for the revitalization of Newton Centre through community participation in the planning and design process. Three workshops: two working sessions for Task Force members and one longer workshop for the general public were facilitated. Each of the three workshops consisted of a half-day event designed to create an inspiring, practical vision for Newton Centre. Design issues such as parking, building height and massing and plantings were addressed as well as vehicular and pedestrian circulation. Dodson & Flinker worked with the Newton Centre Task Force to create several consensus plans based on differing levels of revitalization from low to high density redevelopment based on the best recommendations of each workshop.
