Eliot Tower Stabilized Stone Dust Paving Installed

The first phase of construction at Eliot Tower and Memorial Bridge is complete, after hardscape construction by Lawrence Lynch Corporation and erosion control seeding by MON Landscaping in summer and fall 2021. These early 20th century structures at the DCR-managed Great Blue Hill Reservation are part of a larger loop trail constructed as a memorial to the esteemed Massachusetts landscape architect Charles Eliot. Work completed in 2021 includes installation of stabilized stone dust paths, boulder edging, stone paving, and erosion control seeding—together providing improved access to the historic structures and addressing surrounding erosion issues. This work also represents an important first step toward improving accessibility for the larger memorial loop.
