We are thrilled to be working with the town of Montague on a Livability Plan for Downtown Turners Falls. The largest of five villages within the town of Montague, Turners has a long and vibrant history as both a native american gathering spot and a bustling mill village. It’s distinctive 19th century architecture, extraordinary setting, walkable scale and affordable housing market continue to draw residents and visitors to the village. At the same time, a number of vacant storefronts and vacant historic buildings seek creative investment and renewal. We have been facilitating an extensive public participation process, involving four working group meetings of 30 stakeholders and one public charrette attended by over 60 members of the community. We are beginning the process of drafting a final report, which will include graphic and written recommendations and action steps with which the Turners Falls community can move forward.
