This summer, Dodson & Flinker returned to Raymond E. Shaw Elementary School in Millbury, Ma. and discovered thriving pollinator gardens surrounding the school building and playgrounds. Following up on projects is important for bringing visions into reality and is intrinsic to our practice, even after projects have been completed for several years. Establishing pollinator meadows requires patience as well as changing landscaping practices, among other challenges. So we were pleasantly surprised to see the New England Plants Showy Wildflower Mix abounding with blooms and insects and enriching the landscape with an array of beautiful colors and textures. When the students come back to school this fall, they will have a verdant wildflower meadow to enjoy for many more weeks before the season ends.
