On Saturday, November 6, Town Officials and leaders from the Sippican Historical Society celebrated a ribbon-cutting for work completed in 2021 at the Town House in Marion, MA. This Italianate structure–built in the 19th century with funds from local businesswoman Elizabeth Taber–once housed the Tabor Academy and now serves as town offices.
D&F’s involvement in Marion began in 2015, when we served as a subconsultant to T2 Architecture of Marion, helping to assemble a feasibility study for the Town House and adjacent Elizabeth Taber Library property. The landscape improvements completed this year at the Town House entrance are an outcome of this feasibility study. Dodson & Flinker served as landscape architect for this work, which was funded by the Sippican Historical Society. Francisco Tavares Contractors constructed new bluestone paving, stone walls and seat-walls, and lighting. New Leaf Design of Marion provided planting design, installation, and initial maintenance.
This project marks the third constructed project on Spring Street designed by Dodson & Flinker. Previous work included improvements at adjacent Elizabeth Taber Library and a seating area and statue of Elizabeth Taber across the street in Bicentennial Park.
