Our growing planning practice has an opening for a new team member. Our planning team works to solve some of the most fundamental issues of the day. We use a design-based approach to help our municipal clients answer questions like, how to plan for housing that is attainable, sustainable and makes neighborhoods better places to live; how to prepare developed areas for sea level rise; and how to build community consensus and momentum toward shared goals. Much of our work involves physical planning and helping communities visualize change.
We are open to people with various levels of experience who can make an immediate contribution to our planning projects. At any level, a successful candidate will have strong baseline skills, including an ability to research effectively, write professionally, illustrate beautifully, communicate clearly, listen actively, and think critically. Entry-level candidates should understand planning and/or urban design principles and methodologies, have a graduate degree or equivalent experience in planning, landscape architecture, architecture, or ecological design, and be fluent in ArcGIS Pro, Sketchup, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office. Mid- and senior-level candidates will also have experience managing projects and knowledge of urban design, housing, zoning, open space and environmental planning, climate resilience, economic development, or other topics. Experience with public engagement using social media and innovative tools is a plus at any level.
We are a small firm that is always trying new things. A successful candidate will be comfortable taking on open-ended questions, taking direction and figuring out what needs to be done next, contributing to an inclusive team environment, and be committed to doing the best work possible within the budget available.
We have a flexible office environment in beautiful, and relatively affordable, Western Massachusetts. We are open to hybrid work arrangements and three-quarters to full-time employees. We offer a competitive salary, health benefits, 401K plan, paid holidays and vacation.
Don’t meet every qualification? If you are excited about our firm and can make a meaningful contribution—while doing the work to build your skills and knowledge—we encourage you to apply.
